Saanvi drinks an iced coffee while hanging out with her family.

Saanvi the Self-Advocate

Saanvi the Self-Advocate is the story of a loving family with two teenage daughters, including Saanvi, who has Down Syndrome. Like most fourteen-year-olds, Saanvi desperately wants her parents to trust her to do independent things, like walking to the downtown Dunkin’ by herself. Her parents are reluctant to allow this, citing their daughter’s distractibility. With the help of a dedicated teacher, Saanvi sets out to prove to them that she can succeed in her quest, disability or not.
